Emily Allen Speech Therapy

Welcome to

Meet Emily Allen

I have been working as a speech-language pathologist in the Charleston area since 2018. I graduated with my M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Akron, I’m certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the State of South Carolina. Prior to becoming a speech-language pathologist, I worked as a daycare educator, early interventionist, and support personnel for adults with developmental disabilities.

I have over 10 years of experience working with the pediatric population in various settings. My decade of experience in pediatrics has provided me with invaluable skills and insights that enhance my effectiveness as a speech therapist, enabling me to deliver high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of each child. I am passionate about helping all children communicate confidently and have a special interest in the areas of autism, apraxia, and early intervention.

Why Choose Emily Allen Speech Therapy?

  • Over 6 years of extensive speech and language experience working with children of all ages and abilities.

  • Belief in building strong partnerships with families, empowering parents and caregivers to support their child's communication development both during and outside the therapy session.

  • I understand the importance of play in a child's learning process and integrate fun and engaging activities into our therapy sessions to make learning enjoyable and effective.

  • Collaborating closely with educators, pediatricians, and other professionals involved in a child’s care to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to therapy.

  • By letting the child lead and following their interests and preferences, therapy becomes a positive experience where they feel empowered and capable. When children are interested and engaged in therapy activities, they're naturally motivated to participate and learn more effectively.
